The atmospheric instability that will prevail on Monday and that will extend throughout the week will favor the growth of clouds of diurnal evolution that will bring with them tomentose showers in the Iberian Territory, Valencian Community and southern Catalonia , according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency ( Aemet ).
The Aemet spokesman, Rubén del Campo, reported that these rains “may leave more than 15-20 liters per square meter in less than an hour” and there is a probability that they are accompanied by hail or strong gusts of wind during Monday’s day.
Likewise, this evolutionary cloudiness will be installed in other areas of the north and east of the Peninsula, with showers and “occasional” storms in mountainous environments , mainly in the Central and Iberian systems, as well as in the interior northwest. On the other hand, in the north of the Canary Islands there will be cloudy intervals, without ruling out some drizzle on islands of greater relief.
There will also be a possible presence of fog banks on the west coast of Galicia , and some morning mists in the interior of Galicia, in the eastern third of the peninsula and in the upper Ebro.
Temperatures will drop in the Mediterranean area and the Canary Islands, and will increase in the western third. However, in general they will not undergo “big changes” . The highest values will be located in the Guadalquivir valley with a maximum of 34 degrees on Monday and 35 on Tuesday.
As for the winds, they will be of an eastern component in the Mediterranean area and on the Cantabrian coast, with the possibility of strong intervals on the northern coast of Galicia, while in the Strait of Gibraltar they will be from the west. In the Canary Islands there will be the presence of trade winds.
Weather as of Wednesday
Different centers of low pressure may exert their influence on the weather in Spain, on the first day of September and days during the subsequent days. This will cause the rains to continue, in the form of heavy showers in the northern half of the peninsula, without ruling out the southern plateau and the interior southeast.
These rains will be more “intense and frequent” in the mountains and surrounding areas . Likewise, they may be locally strong in a large part of the peninsular northeast quadrant and the upper Ebro. Likewise, they may extend to coastal areas of the eastern Cantabrian and north of the Mediterranean.
Similarly, “occasional” rains cannot be ruled out in other areas of the Peninsula and in the Canary Islands, where there will be cloudy intervals in the north of mountainous islands, with possible “light rains” . On the other hand, the south of Extremadura and western Andalusia will have less probability of rain.
Temperatures will drop overall. This will bring its own values for the season or “something fresh” , although increases in temperatures are to be expected in points on the southern coast of the Mediterranean and in the Canary Islands. In addition, 34 degrees could be reached, locally and as in previous days, in the Guadalquivir valley.
Finally, “light” winds will predominate , somewhat more intense on the coastline, which will be an eastern component in the Mediterranean and Cantabrian area and trade winds in the Canary Islands.
