FSA fully captures Afrin after 2 months of battles

Aleppo (Syria News) The Free Syrian Army (FSA), backed by Turkish troops, have captured the entire area of Afrin, after more than two months of battles.

Spokesman for the 9th Special Forces Brigade, Captain Anas Hajji Yahia, said that the Free Syrian Army militia has fully captured the area of Afrin.

Yesterday, Turkish Army announced capturing the area, according to a statement released by the army.

It is noteworthy that Turkey launched an offensive against the Kurdish People’s Protection Units on December last year.

The capture of Afrin took place after the announcements of the Turkish Chief of Staff Hulusi Akar, who said that his country will reach the outskirts of Aleppo, near the towns of Nobl and al-Zahraa.

Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan revealed that nearly 3740 fighters of the People’s Protection Units were killed in the operation in the last two months.

On the other hand, “Olive Branch” operation room announced capturing three villages, south of Afrin, while pointed out that the offensive is still ongoing to liberate the remaining areas from the grip of the terrorism.
