Deir Ezzor (Syria News) The Islamic State (ISIS) militants launched an attack on the headquarters of the Syrian regime forces and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, Enab Baladi News reported on Sunday.

The attack launched by the Islamic State targeted the area of Sbaikhan Desert, where Assad’s forces are stationed, and the areas of Abu Kamal and al-Ashrah, after the Syrian Democratic Forces militants attempted to recapture the ISIS stronghold in the area.

Meanwhile, the Islamic State launched another attack on the SDF headquarters near al-Melh oil well and al-Maqsam checkpoint, in the town of al-Tayaneh, while attempted to advance into the residential area in al-Omar oil field.

Furthermore, the Joint Operations Command reported that Iraqi “F16” fighter jets carried out an air strike, on Friday, inside the Syrian territories, targeting the Islamic State’s headquarters in the countryside of Deir Ezzor.

It is noteworthy that in the past few months, the Islamic State group lost the majority of its-held areas in Syria and Iraq, while its influence was limited to some areas around the city of Albukamal and the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, at the Syrian-Iraqi borders.
