ISIS gunmen attack SDF in oilfields area east of Euphrates River in Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor (Syria News) The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported, on Thursday, that clashes broke out between the Syrian Democratic Forces and gunmen believed to be members of the Islamic State group in areas in the vicinity of the oilfields east of Euphrates River in the eastern countryside of the Deir Ezzor.

The clashes took place near al-Jafra oilfield, last night, after the group infiltrated the area which is connected to the rest of oilfields in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and where American troops are stationed.

The gunmen attempted to inflict as many casualties as possible in the ranks of the troops stationed in the area, and a number of casualties in the ranks of both parties were reported, the SOHR added.

It is noteworthy that the vicinity of the oilfields, east of Euphrates River, in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, is occasionally witnessing attacks by members of the Islamic State group, who carried out attacks against the Syrian Democratic Forces and their allied international coalition troops, where the latter have military bases in the oilfield areas located east of Euphrates River.
