Islamic State starts offensive against Assad forces in Albukamal

Deir Ezzor (Syria News) The Islamic State group started an offensive against Assad “Regime” forces near the city of Albukamal, southeast of Deir Ezzor, Enab Baladi news reported on Thursday.

The ISIS-owned Amaq news agency reported, today, that the Islamic State has started an extensive offensive against the Syrian regime forces in the northern and western areas of the Assad forces controlled-Albukamal City.

The Islamic State managed to destroy a tank belonging to the regime forces, using a remote controlled rocket, in the city of al-Ramadi, northwest of Albukamal, Amaq added.

Moreover, the news outlet reported that assaults of the Islamic State against the security forces have concentrated in the city of al-Mayadin, which the security forces lost early in October 2017.

The assaults against the regime forces are coinciding with other offensives on the areas located near the lines of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

It is worth to mention that the Islamic State group managed to capture the town of Salihiya and the villages of al-Tawateha, al-Abbas and al-Majaweda, after its latest attacks on the city, while it is trying to expand its control on Albukamal-Mayadi road.

The radical group also announced, in the last few days, capturing several members of the regime forces near Albukamal, while the area did not witness an actual attack by the Islamic State before today.
