Tillerson: Iran has to withdraw its militants from Syria
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

(Syria News) US Secretary of State Rex Tilerson affirmed, on Wednesday, during a press conference with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi in Amman, that Iran has to withdraw its forces and militants from Syria.

Tillerson said during the press conference, “We are quite concerned about the recent incident involving Israel and Iranian assets inside of Syria. And I think this again illustrates why Iran’s presence in Syria is only destabilizing to the region.”

Furthermore, US Secretary of State Tillerson thanked Jordan for hosting a lot of Syrian refugees since the start of the war.

Meanwhile, in a response to Tillerson statement, Senior Foreign Policy Adviser to the Supreme Iranian Leader, Ali Akbar Velayati, said, “Those should leave Syria who are there without the permission of the Syrian legal government.”

The Iranian military presence in Syria is legit because of Assad’s regime permission, Valeyati added.

It is noteworthy that Iran and Syria are close strategic allies, where Iran has provided significant support for the Syrian regime in the Syrian Civil War, including logistical, technical and financial support, as well as training and some combat troops.
