Idlib (Syria News) The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported, on Wednesday, that warplanes continue carrying out air strikes on the countryside of Idlib, while intensive ground operations and ongoing clashes took place in the eastern countryside of the province.
The London-based observatory has monitored that warplanes are carrying out ongoing air raids on the areas of Abu al-Duhur, Barsah, Barnan, Qatrah, Khan al-Sobol and Jarjanaz, in the countryside of Idlib, causing material damage but no casualties were reported.
Furthermore, violent clashes continued between the regime forces, backed by foreign militias, and the rebels, Islamic factions and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham militia in the areas located in the southeastern countryside of Idlib, where the clashes concentrated in the vicinity of Tal Maraq, Om al-Khalakhil, al-Jadu’eiyah, al-Sallumiyah and Zarzour areas.
Meanwhile, warplanes bombarded the areas of clashes, while artillery and rocket shelling were conducted on the same areas.
It is noteworthy that since 2011, Idlib was the center of protests and fighting in the early phase of the Syrian war. And when the uprising transformed into an armed conflict, Idlib became the focus of a rebel campaign, which temporarily captured the city, before being recaptured by the regime forces in April 2012.
After an offensive in 2015, al-Nusra Front and Ahrar al-Sham, succeeded to capture the city.
