Damascus (Syria News) The U.S. Department of State announced that it counts on continuing Geneva talks and expanding the de-escalation zones in Syria.
An official source in the department informed that the Syrian situation will be one of the most important files that will be discussed by U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson during his upcoming tour, which is expected to take place next week in a number of European countries.
The Syrian affair is a very important issue, the source added. The main goal is to draw the attention of our Russian partners to Geneva talks, as well as expanding the very successful experiment of the de-escalation zones, he explained.
Furthermore, the U.S. source pointed out that Tillerson might meet his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the sideline of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Ministerial Conference in Geneva.
The ministers are planning to discuss several international affairs including, the Syrian affair, conflict in Ukraine and North Korea file, during their upcoming meeting in the 7th of December.
It is noteworthy that the spokesperson for the United States Department of State Heather Ann Nauert said that Tillerson will visit Brussels, Vienna and Paris in the period between 4 and 8 December.
